The Service
Premium Data is a software package that updates end of day prices
from stock exchanges around the world. (In the case of the
Australian Securities Exchange and the Singapore Exchange, progressive hourly
snapshots are also available).
The software is easy to install and run.
Once you’re set up, it’s simply a matter of connecting to the Internet
and clicking the “update” button.
As part of the installation process, a database of historical prices
is loaded on to your computer. This database is held in the MetaStock™
format (MetaStock™ is the standard international format for charting
packages). Each update appends the latest prices to the database.
Price
The service is well priced in the market place. We invite you to
shop around and compare features and prices. Please click on any
data division below to see our features and then check our prices.
But I can get free data from the Internet...
Free data is fine, if all you’re interested in is the latest price of
a stock. But if you wish to run your data through a charting package,
and make real use of it, you need to maintain it. For instance, you need
to adjust it for capital reconstructions.
In the case of the ASX, about six stocks need to be adjusted on average
per week. A further dozen will have been de-listed by the exchange or
had a name or code change. In addition, new stocks that come on board
need to be identified.
Premium Data handles all of these maintenance acvities, and others,
automatically, as part of database maintenance.
